01. PORTFOLIO

Loewen

Loewen designs and manufactures custom wood windows for the luxury market. The focus of the Loewen redesign was to deliver as much product information as possible. Previous sites had a strong focus on the brand experience but lacked product details.

The redesign brought products to the forefront in an elegant and understated way by letting the product catalog drive the navigation structure and information architecture. The result is a complex yet easy-to-use site. Loewen.com serves as part of larger marketing initiative as visitors are driven to the site from collateral material and other advertising.

TD Ameritrade — Veo

TD Ameritrade's Veo service needed a website to help independent investors visually interpret client portfolios. Using a pentagram-like diagram the website dynamically plots the relationship and compatibility of each investment service. During a financial consultation an advisor could change the services selected and get real-time feedback for their clients. The challenge with this website is that I had to accommodate up to 120 buttons and 90 different investment service combinations on screen at the same time.

Loewen Jobs

Loewen's HR department wanted a microsite that would promote Loewen as a premium employer in their region. The focus was to share positive stories from staff that highlighted the benefits available and what set Loewen apart from other employers. The website also presented information about benefits, company history, available positions and testimonials from existing employees.

Bosch Tools

Bosch Tools needed a kiosk they could use at trade shows and special events that had three purposes: to allow users to browse their product catalog, register newly purchased tools and register for special promotions to win products.

The challenge was converting a database feed created for Bosch.com into a kiosk application. The existing data had to be reconfigured for touch screen purposes and the interface needed to accommodate dynamic content due to the database driven nature of the product information.

In addition, I was the client contact, regularly attending progress meetings and coordinating efforts between INTOUCH and Bosch.

Legoland

Legoland California wanted a kiosk that would encourage kids and their parents to purchase a mock drivers license after they completed a ride that simulates driving on real streets. Kids can use the kiosk to enter their name, take a photo of themselves and customize the license background. Once the license has been created, the visitors are directed to a counter where the license is immediately available.

ARMP

The Army Recreation Machine Program (ARMP) is an organization that provides support to American service personnel around the world. ARMP wanted an interface for their internet gaming cafés. Service personnel could come in and add credit to an account then select a game of their choice to play.

The design focuses on displaying the available titles installed on the kiosk terminal. A custom content management system (CMS) for administrators was developed that allowed them to add, edit or delete game titles installed. In addition, administrators could upload cover art, edit game details such as game controls and descriptions and manage secondary details such as highlighting new game titles.

Mattel — Barbie

Mattel wanted a kiosk that would allow internal staff to record videos of their favorite Barbie memories for internal promotion purposes.

Hosted at Mattel headquarters, this kiosk was placed in a common area where staff could approach the unit and record a brief video. The kiosk had to make the recording experience simple and quick while reinforcing the Barbie brand. The kiosk also needed to allow administrators to manage video files, and specify where the videos were saved on the system.

Carbonzo

Carbonzo is a kiosk that shows users how they contribute to global warming and educates them about reducing their carbon footprint. Specifically, it allows someone to purchase carbon credits directly from the kiosk via credit card.

Carbon credits are donations to green initiatives such as wind farms, tree planting organizations and solar power installations. The intention is to offset the purchaser's own contributions to global warming stemming from everyday activities.

The kiosks were placed on college and university campuses and the design had to appeal to a younger demographic while the functionality easily allowed them to make donations.

The Broadmoore

This proof-of-concept kiosk was created to showcase a rich media experience for guests of luxury hotels and resorts such as the Broadmoore. Instead of receiving the usual hotel service menu on their television, guests receive a branded custom interface that allows them the ability to browse the internet, access business productivity tools, use their MP3 players and more, all from a secure interface in their hotel room.
